1.
The first thing you need to do is determine the photography style you like, and then start looking for a photographer who specializes in that style.

2.
There are various ways to find a suitable wedding photographer, including search engines (Google), wedding portals, social media, magazines, recommendations from friends. When searching for and choosing a photographer, it’s essential to assess their portfolio. The portfolio reflects their previous work, demonstrating their professionalism and experience. The portfolio should align with your preferences; in this case, you and the photographer should share similar tastes and perspectives on various subjects, stories, and events, etc.

3.
The next thing to pay attention to is wedding photo series of 50-100 photos. You should see a consistent style, editing, and a consistently high level of professionalism. Cohesive wedding series is an indicator of the photographer’s skill and their unique style, which a true professional will never hide.

4.
Furthermore, what speaks about a photographer as a professional is the reviews about them and their work. You should easily find this information (on social media, their website) and review it before contacting the photographer. Then, I suggest you make a list of 3-5 photographers with whom you will initiate a conversation.

5.
Starting a conversation with a photographer (online or over the phone) should begin by telling them when your wedding will be, in which city, how much time you want the photographer to work with you, and asking if the photographer is available on that date. If you provide the photographer with additional details about your wedding, it would be greatly appreciated. At least, I’m delighted when newlyweds initiate the conversation this way. After that, if the photographer is available, you can inquire about the cost of wedding photography.

6.
If everything suits you, I suggest arranging a meeting with the photographer at a convenient time for you. Get to know them not only as a photographer but also as a person since they will be present at your family event. Try to understand how comfortable and at ease you feel with this person, and whether you could trust them to capture your wedding. Only in the case of mutual liking, can you possibly achieve comfort in working together, which in turn leads to excellent results.
